With the sun the way it is now a-days (hi UV) a shirt like this really helps but the real reason for such a high rating is how it looks. My wife who wears an XS (but a S would be good too) looks great in this.
We have the blue. You will find they fit tight so you may want to consider going up a size but really in the water you want it to fit tight.
I think my wife received lots of looks in this. Plus it goes well with jeans.

These run in junior's sizes. I figured this out by purchasing my first from a brick & mortar store and realizing a 7-8 was considered a "medium" They work great as a rash guard shirt and should be ordered to fit like a glove (pardon the pun) Great swim/surf shirts if you get the right size.
Here's a cheat sheet to their sizing:
Size XS 3-4
Size S 5-6
Size M 7-8
Size L 9-10
Size XL 11-12

We spend our summers on Croatian beaches and need good sun protection.Our first choice were Body glove rash guards because of the style and the colors but came out the sizes runs too small. My husband and son are strong and muscular and could not find right size. Even the largest size was too tight and uncomfortable. Maybe they are good for surfing but for everyday use on the beach or on the boat not very much. I had no problem with return.

I love this rash guard. It's good quality. I wear a size small usually and got the small in this. It fits tight, but I like a snug fit so it's not flapping around in the water. Really helps in the cold pool where I work.

Nice thick fabric. I normally wear a size 10 top, got the XL and it is SKIN TIGHT. Great quality.
