So comfy. So ugly.Nov 03, 2008 I find doing yoga poses where you are pressing your knee into the floor with a standard thickness mat to be extremely uncomfortable, so I thought I'd try something thicker.
This mat is definitely thick and comfortable. I think it may be a tad too thick which may make you a bit unstable as you move from pose to pose or try to hold certain poses. I'd like to try a mat that's 1/2", if there is such a thing, or maybe 3/8".
The mat IS comfortable for my knees, though. I just wish it came in a more attractive color. I also don't really like the velcro straps being attached...the mat tends to curl up on the ends so I tried flipping the mat over to use the other side, but that left the velcro hook-side-up which ended up grabbing my hair scrunchy and pulling it out of my hair.
And of course, it's rather bulky and doesn't fit in a yoga mat bag.
great for pilates, not so much for yogaOct 24, 2008 I've used this mat for about 6 months. The thickness is great for pilates & floor exercises, especially on the knees. However, in various yoga poses, such as downward dog & plank, the soft, pliant, foamy material stretches WAY out (a lot like a rubber band) while I'm in the pose, so that my hands & feet keep getting further & further apart & I have to keep moving them in to keep the pose. The stretchy problem has gotten worse over time. It's also too thick (at my level) for the balance exercises, so I do the standing ones on the hard floor.
Best mat for the buck!Oct 18, 2008 This is a wonderful pilates mat! The thickness of it makes it so comfortable to exercise on. I also love the length of it- so many mats are so short. I'm very happy with this product.
exercise mat reviewSep 17, 2008 Loved this mat. Easy to travel with, extra cushioning...makes me look forward to getting on the floor.
thanks!
Great pilates matSep 13, 2008 It seems as if all the previously reported issues with this product have been addressed by the manufacturer. The packaging is simple, effective, and recyclable. I could not discern any strong odor coming from mat.
I bought the mat to do pilates on my back patio and found it to be just perfect for my needs. It's very comfortable and plenty long enough for my 5'10" height.
